Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 2026

Welcome to Spool, a creative practice for mothers and caregivers, run by Grace Gulley. In these terms, "I" and "me" mean Spool and Grace Gulley, and "you" means anyone who visits this website or joins a circle. By using this site or joining a circle, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or join.

What Spool is, and isn't

Spool offers small writing and art circles that use creative practice to help people put feelings into words. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care, or mental health treatment, and nothing on this site or in a circle is a substitute for professional care. I am not providing diagnosis or treatment of any kind.

If you are in crisis or worried about your safety, please contact local emergency services or a qualified professional right away. In the United States you can call or text 988 at any time.

Joining a circle

  • Circles are small groups of no more than 12 people. Dates, times, length and price are listed when you register.
  • Your place is held once you have registered and paid, where a fee applies. Joining the waitlist is not a booking or a promise of a place.
  • If you can't make a live call, I'll send you that week's writing packet, including readings and prompts, to complete at your own pace. Calls are not recorded. For circles that run over several weeks, a private one-hour makeup session is available for $50.
  • If you need to cancel before a circle begins, tell me as soon as you can. Fees for a circle that has already started are not refundable. If I cancel or reschedule a circle, I will offer you a full refund or a place in a future circle.

Confidentiality and respect

What is shared in a circle stays in that circle. By joining, you agree not to record, screenshot, or share anything another person says, writes, or shows in a circle, and not to identify other participants outside it. Sharing your own writing during a circle is always your choice.

I will do everything I can to keep circles safe, but I can't guarantee what other participants do. The one exception to confidentiality is a situation where I believe someone is in immediate danger. In that case I may need to take steps to protect them.

I may ask someone to leave a circle, without a refund, if their behavior makes the space unsafe for others.

Your writing

What you write is yours. I will never publish, quote, or share your writing, or your words from a circle, without your clear written permission. Testimonials on this site are used with the permission of the people who gave them.

My content

The words, images, design, and other material on this site belong to me or are used with permission. You may read and share links to the site, but please don't copy, sell, or republish my content without asking first.

Using this website

Please use the site lawfully and kindly. Don't try to disrupt it, break it, or use it to harm anyone. The writing box on the homepage keeps nothing you type; the Privacy policy below explains how that works. This site may link to other sites and services, such as Substack. I don't control them and I'm not responsible for what they do.

No guarantees

I take care with everything I offer, but the site and the circles are provided "as is." I can't promise any particular result from taking part. To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or a circle, and my total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid me for the circle in question.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of California, United States, and any dispute will be handled in the courts there.

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026

I care about your privacy, and I've tried to keep this simple. Here is what I collect, why, and what I don't do. "I" means Spool and Grace Gulley.

What I collect

  • The contact form. When you write to me through the form, I collect your name, email address, and the message you send. I use it only to reply to you.
  • The waitlist and registration. If you join the waitlist or register for a circle, I collect your name and email address so I can tell you when a circle opens and keep in touch about it.
  • Payments. If you pay for a circle, a payment service handles your payment. I never see or store your card number.
  • Basic site visits. Squarespace, which hosts this site, records general information such as which pages are visited and what kind of browser is used.

The writing box on the homepage

The writing box on our homepage never stores or transmits what you type. Your words stay on your screen and disappear when you close the page. I keep one anonymous number that counts how many times the box has been used. That number is not linked to you, and it is not linked to anything you wrote.

That count is kept with a service called Cloudflare. Like any website host, Cloudflare handles network requests in order to deliver the number. I don't see, log, or store your address or any details about your device.

What I don't do

I don't sell your information. I don't share it with anyone for advertising. I don't run advertising on this site, and I don't read or keep anything you type into the writing box.

Services I use

  • Squarespace hosts and manages this site. You can read their privacy policy at squarespace.com/privacy.
  • Substack delivers my newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is managed by Substack under their own privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare keeps the anonymous count described above.
  • A payment service and an email service may be used to take registrations and send you circle details.

Cookies

This site uses only the cookies needed to run Squarespace. I don't use tracking or advertising cookies.

How long I keep things

I keep contact messages for as long as I need to reply and follow up. I keep waitlist and registration details until you ask me to remove them or the circle has finished and I no longer need them.

Your choices

You can ask me at any time to show you what I have about you, correct it, or delete it. You can unsubscribe from emails whenever you like. Just write to me and I'll take care of it.

Children

This site and the circles are for adults. I don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top.
